The Center for Birds of Prey - Avian Hospital

Did you know that the Charleston area is home to a world class Avian Hospital with a Oiled Birds Rehabilitation facility? While at Reggie Gibson Architect, I was project manager for this 10,000 square foot project plus additional flight enclosures. Luckily, the oiled birds portion of the building has never been used but unfortunately that may change given the current environmental issues we are facing in the gulf.

I worked very closely with Jim Elliott, the director, to learn the process and technical requirements for cleaning the birds and nursing them back to health. We visited several facilities in California. I had the pleasure of meeting expert Jay Holcombe who has been all over the news with the BP cleanup efforts.

Amen

The Amen St. Fish and Raw Bar sign has been hit by a delivery truck that jumped the curb - for a second time. I am working with Rick Avrett to re-design the mounting bracket to move the sign to safety.

I am beginning design work on this building. Work will include facade renovations and interior work to separate the first and second floor for two new tenants...

too busy to blog

Chasing many new jobs - all of which are very exciting and bigger in scope than the first three months of business. Exciting times but busy.

Mt. Pleasant Residence

The residence was designed for a family with three sons, mother, father and grandfather. The massing of the house and site design was thought of as a family compound of three distinct building forms. The house recalls traditional low country residences but with a more modern execution of details.

I was responsible as project manager for the collaborative design, construction documents, and construction administration.

DeBordieu Residence

This beach house was completed in 2008. We were tasked with designing a house for a family and friends to visit for holidays. The exterior forms and materials were influenced by the classic beach houses and lodges of Pawley's Island while the detailing and interiors reflect a more modern attitude about living.
